Abhishek Sharma

I am Abhishek Sharma, a graduate student, working in Prof. Ryan Stowers' lab in the Mechanical and Bioengineering Engineering departments at the University of California, Santa Barbara. My interests revolve around understanding the mechanobiology of disease progression in cancer and cardiovascular diseases using biomaterials with tunable properties.
In my current research, I am investigating the independent contributions of individual microenvironmental cues in promoting malignant traits during breast cancer progression. Additionally, I am keen on studying the role of epigenomic remodeling in driving the diseased phenotype in response to these aberrations in a cell's mechanical microenvironment.
