Ying (Grace) Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Cardiovascular Institute at Rowan University. She earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science from Sichuan University, her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tsukuba, and completed postdoctoral training in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University. Dr. Chen’s research focuses on developing bioactive metallo-elastomers that integrate metal–ligand coordination with covalent crosslinking to achieve programmable mechanical and biological properties. Her lab engineers resorbable vascular grafts and cardiac patches using advanced manufacturing techniques such as electrowriting and 3D printing, aiming to create synthetic materials that actively promote vascular regeneration. Her interdisciplinary program combines polymer chemistry, biomechanics, and tissue engineering, with applications in cardiovascular repair and regenerative medicine.
